Wholesomely home grown

I guess this is the part where I can shamelessly tell you how wonderful and fabulous Funky Olive Handmade is and a little bit about how it started...

The original Funky Olive was founded by me, designer/maker Sophie Handa back in 2004. It was born from my love for colour, shape, texture, movement and beautiful accessories. I was bored of seeing the same jewellery everywhere and wanted to design and make something a little different to what was available on the high street and so the company was created.

The business has evolved over time and after re-training a few years back I now predominantly design & hand make fabulous and quirky lampshades from my home in the beautiful Hampshire countryside. They come in all shapes, sizes and fabrics and enable me to indulge in my passion for textiles and interiors! I offer a bespoke service, working closely with my clients from sourcing fabrics from around the world, or matching in with existing colour schemes to now teaching workshops from my home or yours!

I don't do things by half

Funky Olive Handmade has organically grown over the last 14 years. It has adapted during difficult economic times and changed its direction once or twice along the way, but at it's heart you will always find a solid passion for colour, texture and all things handmade.

All my lampshades are handmade to order, by me. They therefore take time and are not mass produced in huge quantities so please don't expect to receive your order immediately. Due to the nature of handmade items, they are not perfect like a machine would make so please allow for this. The lampshade that I make for you may not be identical to the one Mrs Jones down the street has ordered but surely that's the beauty of a handmade item? It's been made just for you! I love what I do and I hope that passion comes through in the pieces that I make.

I love to teach and offer drum lampshade workshops, from my home, in the heart of the Hampshire countryside. If this is something that you fancy, then do get in touch or check out dates on the workshops page.
